Glossy 3D sphere effect in CorelDRAW X3:
Learn how to achieve realistic 3D sphere effect with only few easy steps in CorelDRAW X3

1. Start CorelDRAW and open a new document (File -> New or Ctrl+N).
2. Next choose the Ellipse Tool (F7) from the Toolbox toolbar and draw a circle holding the CTRL key (this way you'll draw a circle and not an ellipse)
3. Now with the circle selected open the Fountain Fill Dialog (F11) from the Toolbox toolbar. For Type choose Radial, leave Two color selected and chose "From" color Black and "To" color sky blue. Set Mid-point to 18 and Edge pad to 10%. Your dialog should look like this:
4. Next draw an ellipse which vertical radius is a little shorter than its horizontal radius. Place the ellipse above the blue circle as shown in the picture below and choose as fill color solid White.
5. Now with the white ellipse selected use the Interactive Transparency Tool (I) from the Toolbox toobar and click above the ellipse, holding the mouse button drag downwards below the ellipse and release the button. You should get this effect:
6. Duplicate the white ellipse either with CTRL+D or + from the numkeys. Decrease its height a little further and its overall size so it's that big. Next place it at the bottom of the blue sphere:
7. Now adjust the transparency with the Interactive Transparency Tool so it's more realistic:
8. Result (The shadow is another ellipse with 10% Black fill):
